History
Huntington County Community Schools purchased the property now known as the Huntington County Community Learning Center in 1996. The original building, constructed in 1988, was a car dealership.
The building was expanded in 2016, in partnership with the local community. 1.45 million dollars was raised for this expansion, which included a new Main Entrance as well as office space for WorkOne Northeast, Ivy Tech Community College, and Huntington University. A conference room for community use and a Health Services classroom suite were also added, as well as classroom space for Impact Institute.
In 2022, the building grew again by an additional 20,478 square feet with the addition of Building 2. This space added a state-of-the-art welding shop with 22 booths, as well as an Advanced Manufacturing lab that is home to both CNC and manual equipment. This allowed the Huntington County 4H Robotics Team to move into the existing Precision Machine Shop, giving the team additional shop space and room to build a scaled practice field. An Industrial Maintenance lab, Criminal Justice simulator room, and classroom space for the high school Alternative Education program round out the newest part of the facility.
